What are the best Aesthetic treatments for the winter?

The winter can be an ideal time to relax and rejuvenate. In the winter, the skin can become more dry and certain triggers such as the cold weather and central heating can mean your skin may need extra TLC and existing conditions such as eczema and rosacea may be exasperated.  At Revivify london, we believe in a holistic approach, and can detail all rejuvenation options available to you; from nutritional and cosmeceutical options, to advice on the latest non-surgical aesthetic procedures such as the Silhouette soft thread lift.  All consultations and procedures are undertaken with Dr Samizadeh, the Clinical Director of Revivify London.

Here are Dr Samizadeh’s recommendations for aesthetic treatments ideal for the winter:

Glycolic acid peels

Glycolic acid peels resurface the skin producing new, younger looking, rejuvenated skin with a more even complexion. Next generation peels such as the Neostrata system and grading of peels such  as superficial, medium and deep mean that the peels no longer require lots of downtime and extensive skin renewal. The downtime is usually minimal, if any, but can overhaul the appearance of your skin and stimulate skin repair mechanisms. Chemical peels can be used on the face, hands and neck. Although a high SPF is still needed to protect the skin from the sun in the winter, there is less direct sunlight and high temperatures as well as trips away to hotter climates. Therefore, winter is a great time to take care of your skin and undo some of the damage done during the summer.

Common and effective uses of chemical peels include:

  • Reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles that can occur due to accelerated ageing due to sun damage
  • Treatment of acne and acne scars
  • Treating some of the hallmarks of skin ageing such as dark spots/ hyperpigmentation
  • Improving skin texture and producing smoother, tighter skin
  • Improving the appearance of minor scars

Skinboosters and hydrating dermal filler treatments

Winter skin may lack lustre, and become dry and dull. As well as utilising effective cosmeceuticals, increasing hydration and eating a nourishing diet; sophisticated hyaluronic acid gel based fillers can boost hydration, restoring lustre and radiance. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, unfortunately production decreases with age meaning older skin may be prone to dryness. A course of 3-6 treatments using microinjections of skinboosters placed in key areas of the face can boost hydration and restore radiance.

Tear trough treatment

A busy lifestyle and the party season may leave you looking a little tired. A highly effective rejuvenation technique targets the dark circles, wrinkles and puffy skin “eye bags” that can occur. Carefully placed injections of a hyaluronic acid based gel with a formulation of vitamins and amino acids can help  rejuvenate the eye area; for a brighter, more youthful and awake looking eye area.

Everyday cosmeceutical treatment

We can advise on the very best repairing products. Cosmeceuticals have a medicinal and cosmetic benefit due to the concentration of beneficial dermatology actives such as Retinol, PHAS, and AHAs. Cosmeceuticals are also formulated by physicians and scientists to ensure maximum delivery, penetration and effectiveness when applied to the skin; they don’t simply sit on the superficial layer and instead repair deep inside the dermis.  As we sleep, our innate skincare repair systems are at their peak, and utilising a highly effective night serum or moisturiser can greatly assist repair.

Silhouette soft® thread lift

Many people want an overall, natural looking facial lift without the downtime and surgical risks.

The thread lift is a non-surgical facelift that combats signs of ageing such as sagging skin and loss of facial volume. Silhouette Soft® threads are reabsorbable, bidirectional sutures that have lifting and regenerating effect. Polylactic acid (PLA), the principal component of Silhouette Soft® is a polymer known in the medical field for many years (suture thread, orthopaedic pins, screws and nails for bone fractures are all made from PLA). A subtle lift can be seen immediately after the treatment as soon as the treatment is carried out. The regenerative effect is gradual and natural, over time, polylactic acid component of the threads boosts collagen production, resulting in  progressive volumisation.
