The Silhouette Soft thread lift is a non-surgical procedure with minimal to no downtime. At Revivify London, the procedure is undertaken with our Clinical Director, Dr Samizadeh, who has attended World Expert Meetings on this procedure and can advise on all your treatment options, their risks and benefits and Silhouette soft threads. Typically, the procedure takes under an hour, with results lasting up to 18 months.
Silhouette soft® is a fully absorbable suture and cone technology, originally developed in the USA from SilhouetteLift® permanent suture and cones used in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Carefully placed sutures, or “threads” work by repositioning the tissue and volumes of the various areas of the face affected in the ageing process such as the lower jaw and jowls, sagging eyebrows, and cheeks affected by loss of volume and sagging. Silhouette soft also has a regenerative effect, by initiating increased collagen production.
As we get older, collagen production decreases, and this causes hallmark signs of ageing to the skin and the skin’s structural integrity. The innovative sutures are made from poly-lactic acid which causes the body to boost fibroblast production. Poly-lactic acid is derived from corn starch or sugar cane and is broken down gradually by the body into lactic acid, a naturally occurring substance. This technology makes the sutures resorbable. As the resorption process is gradual, this allows collagen production over time, supporting and restoring the skin structure for the regenerative effect over 6-18 months.
Who is suitable for the Silhouette Soft® procedure?
Men and women aged 30 and over, who want to combat the signs of ageing with a minimally invasive procedure. Allergy tests have suggested that the procedure is suitable for all skin types, but if you have sensitivity to biomaterials e.g PLA made medical implants, Silhouette Soft® should be avoided.
Is there any pain, discomfort or side effects?
The procedure is performed under local anesthetic, so there should typically only be minimal pain or discomfort. However, there are some post procedural recommendations:
• During the week after treatment, dental surgery, facial massages and beauty treatments are to be avoided.
• Contact sport for the first few weeks should be avoided
• Sleeping preferably on the back is advised.
• In the event of pain, oral painkillers are recommended.
